Just back from short break
Had expected a reply from b an q by now - they said 72 hours and I spent an hour going through everything over phone on 12 April
I have emailed customer support to ask what is happening
On this occasion no news is not good news
Hi Janeholla, I've just had an email from them this morning B&Q that is they've given me a gift card via email to the value of £95( got to wait 48 hrs before the damn thing is activated though!) I also got a voucher from Valspar to the value of one 5ltr tin of paint. I'm not sure about using this though as I think id prefer to go back to Dulux paints.
It still isn't enough IMO for all the anxiety and stress its caused but I'm so desperate to get rid of this smell I'll take anything at the moment, and yes this is precisely how they want us complaining customers to react that's why its taken so long!
However, I have contacted both watchdog and Trade and Standards as I feel its all been a little unfair, I would urge anyone experiencing this to do the same otherwise they won't act on our behalf.
These big corporate companies feel that they can pay us off with a tin of paint. If this is a problem Globally but not a problem with the paint as they suggest! then why isn't it printed on the preparation of walls area on the can. Not just Valspar but all paint companies! making the consumer aware of this and how to prevent it happening in the future! They need to take on some of this responsibility just as we're responsible for doing the right prep work before decorating, other wise they need to go back to their original recipes.
