Toilet seat replacement - help needed!

by RobinL99 » Thu Feb 01, 2024 1:19 pm

Hey everyone,

Moved into a new flat and wanted to replace the toilet seat.

I've removed it, but naively ordered a new one that doesn't quite fit. I therefore need to a) identify one that does fit or b) remove the chrome fixtures so I can replace with an adjustable seat (for example https://www.amazon.co.uk/MUJIUSHI-Relea ... 324&sr=8-5).

The latter seems like the easier / cheaper option, HOWEVER I am having real trouble removing the chrome fixtures. Unscrewing them just seems to rotate them without them loosening, and I've tried prising the chrome caps with a chisel / hammer with no luck. There's no access from below either...

I've been struggling with this for a little while now - any help greatly appreciated!!! Pictures below, thank you!

Hi robinl99,
Some fixings are like cavity wall toggle fixings, once they have been in place for a while they rust. You could try levering upwards under the collar and unscrewing at the same time. If this is unsuccessful cutting the fixings may be the only solution.
