Toilet Won't Flush Properly After Replacing Siphon

by ashiells » Mon Jun 19, 2017 8:51 pm

Hi there,

I'm hoping you can give me some advice on my faulty toilet that won't flush properly.

The problem started last week when the toilet stopped flushing completely. I was able to remove the siphon after realising that it had broken and bought a replacement the next day, which for interest was a 'Macdee DSY8925 3 Piece 9” Toilet Siphon'.

I was able to fit the new part without having to turn off the water supply as it slips into place against the existing piping. It worked perfectly for a couple of flushes, but now I still need to pump the handle for the toilet to flush. I think the problem could be with the 'Metal C-Link' which links the flush handle to the siphon pulley. The new one that came with the siphon doesn't seem long enough to fully bring up the siphon diaphragm, whereas the old one seems too long.

I can attach pictures if that would be helpful; at the moment I can't until I've made one post!

I can't seem to strike a balance and I'm beginning to second guess myself as to if this is the real problem.

Please note that I've checked the troubleshooting tips from the manufacturer, namely:
-the nut that connects the pipes is tight enough
-there's no problems with the siphon diaphragm
-there's no problems with any of the washers

Any advice appreciated!
