dreamroof is a sprayfoam product that will insulate your roof walls floors, its very good but if your spraying your loft and you just have the lime render type finish without any felt then the roof cannot breathe causing damp to rot the timbers, for more info on this product try www.expandingfoamkits.co.uk

Lime torching is not very common and was used to bind the underside of tiles to the battens and reduce wind driven water ingress and subsequently airflow.

However it is not the presence of lime that is the problem but the fact the airflow was subsequently limited. Good ventilation is vital to the health of the timbers in the roof so ventilation should be a consideration at all times.

By creating a warmer roof void condensation can be dramatically reduced especially id air flow is maintained.

Dreamroof guarantee their work for ten years and exercise care to ensure a roof remains well ventilated. The Sprayfoam is breathable too. As with any professional organisation it is still the quality and experience of the tradesman that counts!

Yes I know them very well and was not impressed at all. By luck I had verges done later by another company and was lucky the tiles did not fall through the kitchen as the batons were rotten which Dreamroof never picked up on inspection.

I had a similar expanding foam product applied to my roof-tiles in 1995, but a different company. My house was built in 1900 with slate tiles and the copper nails had corroded. This sort of treatment (advertised in National newspapers) looked an ideal and cheaper solution than a full roof service, to both lock the tiles in place and add insulation to the house. I was very happy with it, it worked well and I just sold the house this month. At the time I was told that maintaining ventilation through the roof was important.
Summer 2016 I was approached by a rep from Dreamroof in a pop-up display at the local B&Q in South West. I agreed to a no-obligation survey quote for my Mother's bungalow built in 1950, I was redecorating/upgrading it at the time. They said they were the original developers of the technique and their product was different and superior to the opposition (of course). They promised a reduction in heat loss of 80% or so.
They promised a full roof "MOT" survey with recommendations regarding conditions of tiles, roof felt etc. We have dormer window loft conversion (1 bedroom) done in 1972, and still a very roomy loft space fully floored for storage. The rep (apparently one of the partners in the company) spent 2-3 minutes in the loft - I did not see him look at the felt in any detail at all (although I know it is in good shape), nor any inspection of the tiles overall (again I know they are all ok). Instead of measuring the length of the house inside the loft along the ridge, he measured inside the loft-bedroom, missing around 8-10 feet of the roof length. He then made a hand scribbled calculation which he never showed me - just told me the final price verbally. The price was less than I expected and I was promised a further discount if I was the "first in your postcode" to place an order- which he suggested needed to be that week. I was sort-of interested, but wary and generally unimpressed with his approach. I did not receive a copy of the quote at the time, and received no formal quote in writing later by post or email, nor any record of the "roof MOT survey" and no details of their promised warranty nor any terms and conditions.
I am already aware that if these treatments are not applied correctly and adequate ventilation is not maintained in the roof, condensation can be a problem.
In fact I received no follow-up call or contact from them at all - although I had already decided that even if I wanted such a treatment to the house, I would not use Dreamroof.

It sounds like you had a below par surveyor as I've experienced Dreamroof and found them to be really good. I was skeptical at first, had a full written quote and then asked to actually speak with an actual customer. They provided 3 different customers, all where happy and invited me to have a look for myself, which I did. I was very impressed both with the roofing works - a complete new valley and repoint of the ridge and the finish on the spray foam inside was stunning. I had it installed by Dreamroof and I'm delighted I did. The savings on my heating and the peace of mind made it a no brainer. Horses for courses, but I would recommend them and so did the customers I actually went to see.

Well, he was the surveyor they sent, and they told me that he was one of the partners in the company. They trust their reputation to the people they employ. I was not impressed and it does not matter if others say that they received perfect service, my experience was as stated. If they were that good, they would have sent someone competent to survey my property AND I would have been given a formal quote - a well organised company would have a record of my survey/appointment and notice that no follow-up had been made.

They didn't do a hard sell with me, maybe you expected that. If you're that bothered why don't you ask them for a price in writing. It's not about the initial contact it's all about the quality of the preparation and installation.

Well, you might be prepared to pay out several thousands of pounds to contractors and only at the end of a job decide if they were the company to use, but I am not.
The initial contact between a company and a potential customer is a part of the total process. They want to make a sale, they want my money. The onus is on them to impress me that they are a company to choose and trust - particularly if they are not already a nationally known household name ( in the way that say, Everest is for double-glazing and conservatories etc). I am not talking about a "hard sell", I am talking about basic professionalism and evidence of competence, which was not shown in my contact with Dreamroof.
Your experience may well have been different to mine, I can only relay my specific experience.
I really don't know why that seems to concern you so much.
