Toughened glass panel fixing

by WishIhadntstarted » Mon May 16, 2022 2:44 pm

Hi; hope this is the right place:
I have a small piece of 10mm toughened glass to fix, which is approx 230cm x 30cm. It extends the wall to the extent of the shower tray, and looks neat. It also locates the shower door jamb and latch.
My problem is that the glass is held in the “u” channel by a 2 part plastic seal, an “L” shaped piece and an “I” shaped wedge. The channel, wedges and glass are the correct components and dimensions.
But I cannot see how the wedge can be inserted, not even using fairy liquid as lubricant, or boiling water to soften.
If the suggestion is get a specialist who can do it, I’ll start the search.
Otherwise I’m thinking a hardening silicone sealant would work?

Hi wishihadntstarted,
Have you tried fitting the glass and L shaped seal then driving the wedge in the opposite side using a wooden block and hammer. Does the wedge have a locating groove along its length, if yes fit the wedge so the groove locates in the edge of the channel.
Regards S

Thanks stoneyboy; if that’s how it’s done I’ll have a go.
“u” channel has multiple grooves, so guessing wedge has similar, will look am
Cheers
