My son lives in Hungary. He's has a huge triple-glazed sliding patio door installed and the attached photo shows a spontaneous crack which appeared a few days ago whilst he was eating breakfast.
As far as I can tell this cannot be safety glass of any kind - the cracking is typical of plate glass.
It is the inside pane of three and the cracks can be felt with a fingertip.
The pane is about 7' by 7' and I'm worried about the safety of this. The installer has washed his hands of it and told my son to claim on the house insurance.
Does anyone on here know whether there is ANY possibility this is safety glass.
I think it's highly dangerous and told my son not to open this door under any circumstances and stay well away from it.
The room is large but I this thing drops it will shatter on the tiles floor and basically explode.
Should he tape the cracks up?
I'm going over on Sunday so any experienced advise will be welcomed. Thanks in advance.
