Unsure what to do about stained underfloor

by Bobs21 » Fri Jul 11, 2025 4:21 am

Please can someone advise me what is this underfloor made of - can it be removed? should it be removed? does it wear out? should I be worried about the stains? The room does have a slightly funny 'milky' smell. Thanks for any advice!

Hi bobs21,
Looks like you have tongued and grooved chipboard flooring, dig in the stained patches with a screwdriver and compare wth unstained areas. If it’s soft in the stained areas it’s worth replacing it. If it’s ok let it dry out and overpaint with a solvent based polyurethane paint.
Regards SB
