UPVC Front Door Opens with Hard Push When not Double Locked

by poopsnaggle » Tue Sep 01, 2015 8:01 pm

Hello,

I'm not sure if you can advise me please?

I noticed recently that a hard shoulder charge will open my front door when not double locked.

Nothing has changed with the door, I've lived here 2 years and may of done this since install around 10 years ago.

I have put a washer behind the latch which you can just see in the attached photo, this has improved it but not totally.

I'm not sure what it's called but can i get a larger latch to do the job and more of the washer?

Cheers

Daniel

Hello.
It seems as if there is too much of a gap between the door edge and the frame. Try to move the door over towards the latch. This can be done on the hinges if they are " flag type" by using an allen key to turn the adjusting screws.
Don't move the door over too much or it will clash on the keeps.
Also check to see if the door has dropped slightly and the latch is not engaging in the keep properly.
Good luck
