Using 4 Gang 2 way Light Switch as a 4 Gand 1 way

by Tess2401 » Wed Nov 13, 2019 4:55 pm

I hope someone out there can help me as I can't seem to find this topic anywhere! I have a 4 gang 2 way light switch but want to use it as a 4 gang 1 way. Is this possible? I have been fiddling about with all sorts of combinations and can't make the four light switches work independently. So sometimes, when I flick one switch, all four sets of lights come on, sometimes one switch just doesn't do anything! Please help!!

You can use any 2 way light switch as one way.
Depending on make of switch it will have 3 terminals.
C or L1 or Com
L1 or L2 or 1 way
L2 or L3 or 2 way

You use Com and 1 way.

When you have a multi gang switch (as you have) to make everything physically fit, often, each switch is inverse to the one next to it. For example a 2gang 2way would have C L1 L2 at the top and L1 L2 C at the bottom.
