Various instances of damp and advice on survey

by Mugelbbub » Fri Dec 09, 2022 7:50 pm

Hi, hope you and yours all keeping safe and well.
Do I get a Rics type damp survey (£650-£1,150 quoted) or will most damp proof companies do as good a job of identifying cause and remedy?
1930’s terraced residential property. Damp after heavy rain in rear bedroom on party wall high level directly under remaining flue from chimney removal (20 years ago).
Damp on ground floor party wall worse after heavy rain rising about 1m up wall.
Damp since this week in front lounge around skirting front bay wall. Damp this week evident on internal walls around UPVC bay windows (installed 20 years as ago) at ground and first floors.
I know this is a lot which is why I wonder about who to go to first. One company said just ground party wall 2m wide section would be £4k to remedy!
Appreciate any experienced opinion please.

Hi mugelbbub,
You seem to have more damp problems than you can shake a stick at. Suggest you start with a couple of damp proofing companies and see what they suggest. Regards S
