Veritas Excel Security Alarm Front Keypad

by Fixmit » Thu Feb 17, 2022 8:23 pm

Hi, I got Veritas Excel security alram system at my home. It’s front keypad has stopped working no power at all. After searching found the 8 core cable coming from main panel to keypad was chewed by mice or rat. So replaced the cable with new and replaced the 12v battery as well. But still there is no power at front keypad. On main panel it’s showing the power ( steady led light). Can I have help please.

The 12v Auxiliary fuse has blown, you need a new fuse.

Thanks Mr White. I have replaced the 12V auxiliary fuse and the front keypad showing the power light which is good progress. But still showing the temper ( Red led light) which is not going and not able to setup the system on. Even after resetting few times. Do you or anyone have any idea how can rid off or reset the temper red light.

It's Tamper, not Temper.
The tamper light, when lit means that the panel sees a tamper fault.

Tamper is a "protective loop" (Most panels have multiple tamper circuits) that protect (Monitor) all cables and devices. Each device has a tamper connection, larger devices have a tamper switch, so if a cover is removed the alarm goes into tamper.
It could be almost anything that has a tamper fault, but being as you had a vermin problem I suspect a problem with the keypad cover not being flat/level it could also be a loose or broken connection or in the panel (You have been in there too.) It may also be the panel lid tamper switch.

Thanks a lot again Mr. White, I have tried everything you have mentioned, replaced the 12v fuse as well, but the issue about the Tamper fault not resolved. Asked the installer but the visit cost would be expensive. Any other tips so I can try myself. Thanks

Now is the time a multi meter will be very useful. There is always the very old fashion method of disconnect bits, but for this to work you have to know what you are doing.
