Vertical radiator touching new furniture

by laurasp » Thu Oct 08, 2020 12:29 pm

Hello,

We have just installed some Ikea bookcases which are right up against a vertical radiator we had installed a few months ago. There should be a few centimetres between them but we have now realised the vertical radiator has been hung a bit wonky and so the very bottom of it is almost touching the bookcase. Is there anything I could put between the radiator and bookcase (something very very thin and heat proof/resistant) that would prevent the bookcase from getting damaged by the radiator?

It might be a stupid question but I figured there's no harm in asking! Thank you :) Laura

Hi laurasp
You could use a piece of the aluminium foil that is sold for fitting behind radiators to reduce heat loss.
You may find there is enough flexibility in the radiator mounting brackets and pipes to move the radiator sideway slightly - do go carefully.
