Very Low Pressure from Cold pipes to toilets and hand basins

by Biggs 2009 » Wed Jan 14, 2009 4:08 pm

I have just moved into a house where the cold water pressure is very low at the taps and also when filling up the Cisterns. Ive repressurised the system and it came back with good pressure. I left it for a few days and the pressure is now very low. does any one know what could be wrong? The Hot taps pressure is fine.

Hi
Does this low pressure on the cold taps include the tap to the kitchen sink?
If this is the case check that your main stopcock is fully on. Best to ensure it is fully on then turn back half a turn. You should also regularly check the main stopcock turns off properly (every few months) as it can seize up if neglected and you should also turn off if you leave the house empty for any length of time, holidays for instance.
Best wishes.

could be the main stopcock has developed a fault in which case call in a professional to repair/replace it.
