Repairing old Light Fixture That's Failed

by AjayK46 » Wed Dec 04, 2019 3:00 pm

I have had this light fixture for many years and it has just completely failed. When switched on I can hear a faint clicking noise from inside but no light. I suspect there maybe a transformer inside that has failed. The bulb fixtures state Max 35w 12v MR16. Is there any way of repairing this or modifying to take modern mains voltage LED bulbs?

It will not have a transformer as such but it will have a switched mode power supply, since the lamps do not illuminate and you can hear a clicking noise it is safe to assume that the switched mode power supply has failed and needs replacing.
You should replace it like for like.

Thank you. When I take it down I will post some photos of the inside and appreciate further help at that stage. Cheers.
