wall insulation

by Sal » Mon Jan 21, 2008 3:22 am

trying to finish the basement walls. They must be built approx. 8 inches off the concret wall. When insulating the walls and an air space is left between the wall and the poured foundation, does this present a problem. What would be the solution (would it be OK to leave air space or do I have to insulate the entire wall back to the foundation.

thanks,
sal

Could do with a bit more information.
Do I understand that you have a poured concrete basement?
And that you intend to build inner walls to create a usable room?
And that there is no damp or seeping water coming through the concrete?
And that you want to line the new walls in some way to make the new room warm and cosy?
