Wall Light Problems After Light Accidentally Pulled Down

by Lownzy » Tue Sep 27, 2016 7:21 am

My ceiling light was pulled down in an accident exposing a lot of wires. After the new one was fitted one wire remained and could.not be identified. This was clipped off to make safe and the new light installed.

After installation the wall lights in the room next to this are only half working. I presume the wire was the one half of these wall lights. I have spoken to an electrician who says the only way to do it is take the ceiling down in the other room or the shower tray and tiles out in the room above.

Is there any other way. They are controlled by seperate switches.

Only way to do what?? Sounds like an idiot not an electrician!

The very first thing that is required is some investigative testing of the cables.
I would start with a continuity test between the spare cable at the light fitting that fell and the lights that do not work.
No removal of ceilings, shower trays or tiles required!
