Wallpapering Round a Gas Fire

by nigelhunter » Wed Feb 11, 2009 9:37 pm

Hi all

There is more to this problem than meets the eye!!

We had to have our gas fire taken out when it was serviced as the closure plate behind wasnt fitting in properly as the engineer showed the plaster round it was loose and flaky and needed repairing.

This has now been done (the repair) so before I get the closure plate put back in and the gas fire reconnected (yes I do know I have to have it done by a corgi registered installer) I am in the process of redecorating the living room.

What I need to know is whether it is ok to put the lining paper and wallpaper right up to the opening where the closure plate goes into the wall or do I have to have the closure plate re fitted first and then paper up to the tape.

I will not be doing anymore decorating till I get a reply.

Thanks in advance for any help given

Nige

So for those who may have a similar problem in the future it might be interesting to share with the forum how you resolved it.

Cheers
