hi, i'm planning on building a mezzanine level in a warehouse i'm living in, as to add another bedroom.
the space is about 11ft x10ft. I spoke to someone and they mentioned using joist hangers into the brickwork on either side (175mm x 75mm) by digging out the grout and then re cementing over so that there are 11ft wooden beams running across, spaced at 8/9 inches apart. Then to put plywood above and below the beams and insulate with acoustic insulation.
Would that work? could it take the load of a bedroom?
another case of using open metal posi/easi web joists b easy to put in for the self builder install it's best working off a tower safer these can be fixed with joist hangars the great thing about these is open web for services and they come with the compliance certificate for building regulations no need for a se
