Washer/dryer in bathroom

by markusb » Thu May 02, 2024 1:21 pm

The washer/dryer in my kitchen backs up against the bathroom wall (which is just plasterboard). Are there bathroom safety regulations that would prevent me from turning around the washing machine (pretty much entirely within the existing cavity) so that it is accessed instead from the bathroom side? All plumbing and electrical wiring would remain on the kitchen-side.

Thanks!

Hi apprentice,
If the manufacturer of the washer/dryer states it is suitable for installation in a bathroom and once fitted it will be beyond zone 2 ie more than 600mm away from a shower, bath or basin you should be ok. If there is no manufacturers bathroom ok the machine will then have to be more than 2.5m from any shower, bath or basin. This all assumes your bathroom is not a wet room..
Regards S
