Wet Underfloor Heating With Ssphalt Floor

by St3 » Sat Jul 21, 2018 4:25 pm

Hi guys
I am lucky enough to have the plans for my bungalow from when it was built in the late 70's
I have laid electric underfloor heating countless times before for customers but have yet to lay wet underfloor heating so was thinking of installing it in my bungalow, main reason is that i have taken out the ceiling in the dining room (4.5m in height) so in winter the room is very cold and takes for ever to warm up.

the floor is made up of the following
20mm asphalt
100mm concrete
1200g visqueen
50mm sand
150mm hardcore
dpm taken up edge of slab and lapped under dpc

My question's are
Can i remove the 20mm asphalt and lay 18mm boards like the prowarm boards that have the channels in for the pipework so i dont loose any height?

Would i need to put a dpm under the panels on top of the concrete or extra insulation?
any advise would be much appreciated
cheers Ste
