What Order to Construct Stud Partitions in Loft Conversion

by Gordy70 » Mon Jan 25, 2016 8:46 pm

I have planning approval for a loft conversion. The loft is going to be made up of four rooms. What I would like to know is what way should I fit the stud partitions. Should I insulate the whole loft and plasterboard it and then instal the stud partitions. Or should I do the stud partitions and then carry out all the insulation plasterboard work. If I did it this way would it cause cold bridging. The insulated plasterboard I have to use on the camb ceiling is 80mm. Any help would be appreaciated.

There arent really any rules here but the way I do it is to stud out the floor, and "external" walls and ceiling paying particular attention to where I am going to put the "internal" partition walls- Adding studs where necessary to make fixing the partition wall studs easy later. Then I insulate and board out, knowing that there are great fixing places under the board to fix my partitions to.
