just bought a property with ok central heating ,but some of the radiators have no valve caps, and are fully open. how do i tell which is the lockshield valve on the radiators, and with valves being fully open should i adjust , and balance the system again...... thanks geoff
It is normal practice to have the lockshield valve on the return pipe and the control valve on the flow. When the heating comes on from cold check each rad for which pipe heats up first and identify this as being the flow.
The system can now be balanced if required via the lockshields.
control on the flow pipe (heats up first), lockshield on the return ,by which rad is balanced, thanks very much for the info ,much appreciated....Geoff
