Just had a multifuel stove fitted. The installers had to come back and re do the fire cement on the joins of the flue pipe and they have left white run marks on the flue pipe.

I also have the same around the bottom of the stove because we had to put the fre out one night when it wasn't drawing enough and smoke was filling the room (since had flue extended)

Does anyone know what this is/how to clean it? Have the same on my beautiful slate hearth too, under the flue.

Most likely its fire cement where the installer has wetted the surface to finish it off. You could try just water when the fire is cold otherwise its a repaint job.
