Why do solar panel testers only go to 80v

Hi, Why do solar panel testers only go to 80v. I have 1 group of panels at around 240vDC, but cant find a tester to do a quick check. Yes, i can use a multimeter, but a panel tester gives a lot more info. Have you seen a lager tester?. Thanks

You have answered your own question. They are solar PANEL testers, not solar panel string testers. If You have a failing string, you need to know which panel is failing, using a solar panel tester lets you test each panel, so you can easily find the offending panel.

Maybe i will put a volt amp meter on each string. It was only to keep an eye on things & they are cheap enough.

I would suggest you save your money.
You are going to need 2 multimeters per string, one to measure voltage, the other to measure current. You should never disconnect a DC cable while it's live, also cheap multimeters will soon fail as they are not designed for continuous use, and a decent multi meter will switch off after a while to conserve battery power, not to mention the resistance of the multi meter leads.
