Hi, just a curiosity question. Why is why is cat5 cable 305 meters long per box. Seems an unusual length to sell it at. I see it equates to 333 yards or 1000 feet, but not sure for what reason its sold at 305 meters. & net just 300 meters.
You have inadvertently answered your own question. 305 metres is 1000 feet. Before everyone "went metric" cable was sold in feet and 1000 feet is a round number.
I wasn't sure if there was any technical reason as its an unusual length for cabling & CAT 5 came out a long time after metric cable measurements came in. So wasn't sure way not just 300 meters. Could be the manufacture selling an extra few cheeky meters. :)
