Why is my paint turning out so patchy after 6 coats?

by CB92 » Thu May 21, 2020 6:57 pm

I have painted this wall 6 times now and everytime I am left with roller marks as pictured. It looks pretty good front on but as soon as you walk in the door you can see the flashing. Is this at all avoidable or is it just unfortunate that the window and door are where they are which is making it more noticeable? What can I do to fix this? I’m using valspar paint. The other 3 walls look ok, the opposite wall could probably be done with another coat but I don’t want to touch it until I’ve nailed this one.

Hi cb92,
Your roller action should be in all directions in a random fashion, you must also work quick enough to maintain a wet edge.
