Will a log burners flue pipe sit horizontally?

by overlander » Fri Dec 25, 2009 9:39 pm

That may sound like a ridiculous question but I have to hear from someone more experienced in these matters than I.

I have a single storey house in the Canary islands which I have just fitted a log burner and 9in flue pipe to. The Chimney for this is sadly only about 12ft away from the next door neighbours bedroom window and if the wind blows the wrong way it blows straight at them.

So far the two options to overcome this are to build the chimney about twelve foot taller than it is now which would look very odd or make the flue pipe sit horizontally and sent it to the other side of the house.

Thanks for reading this post.

Build the chimney higher, you cant run an open flue sideways!!!

Thanks griffo.

After further conversation with the neighbour its seems he wont be happy with it where ever it is. I wouldnt been so dissappointed if it wasnt for his 40+ per day fag habit!
