We have had to have one of our windows fitted below 80 cm because of previous settlement (it wouldn't have matched the height of the other windows otherwise) and the building inspector isn't happy with the bar that was fitted by our builder. we don't really want a basket on the outside and have been told that it might be possible to fit a childproof lock to the sash window at 80 cm that a child isn't string enough to break but an adult could, so this would remove the need for a bar and pass building regulations. Does anyone know if these exist and if so how to purchase and fit them? If they don't exist, does anyone have any ideas to get round the problem? An internal bar is not considered adequate by our building inspector. Many thanks if you can help.
