Wiring on old friedland doorbell to replace with new

Post by cavper » Thu Apr 23, 2020 12:34 pm

Hi
I would like to remove an old friedland doorbell in my house and replace it with a newer modern doorbell.
I took the front cover off and there are 6 white wires going into the doorbell,1 group of three and 3 singles but I do not know what they do
The house has 2 doorbells one at the frontdoor and one at the backdoor. the backdoor one does not work when pressed

Could any one please tell me what is what and if its possible to put in a modern doorbell

Many thanks

I would guess
One pair is from the transformer,
One pair is from the front door push
One pair is from the back door push

You really need a multi meter to find out am I right, or trace the cables.

Hello
Thank you for the reply, I think i will need to wait until after lockdown and get an electrician in.

It does not need to be an electrician, you would be better off with a competent handyman.
