Good evening everybody.

Question:

I have run two seperate 6mm cables to feed oven and hob, protected by seperate RCBO's.

The cable feeding the old cooker is 10mm. From the old cooker point, I have run a ring main, in 2.5mm cable, feeding eight 13A sockets. The ring starts and ends at the old cooker point.

The sockets feed, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. All other sockets are above counter top.

Is this wiring scheme OK.

HI, A good one this...
this method of wiring a circuit is not a 'standard configuration' as it starts as a radial & changes to a ring 1/2 way, there is nothing to stop you (Assuming you're part p registered of course) from designing any circuit you like provided you can show calcs to prove safety of circuit.
In this case you would have a prob. with test sheets as they are not set up for mixed system, however if you call the first part a 'sub-main', to a ring, with no more than a 32A protective device at source then it is no different to running a feed to a second consumer unit with a final ring circuit fitted, but as you don't need further fusing why fit a 2nd board?,
would love to hear arguements for/against this, I know its's often done,

SPARX HAS GOT A GOOD POINT. BUT I WOULD DO THE FOLLOWING
BUT FULLY RESPECT WHAT SPARX IS SAYING .

I WOULD PERSONALLY PROTECT THE 10 MM2 CABLE WITH A 40 AMP
PROTECTIVE DEVICE ASSUMING THE DISCONNECTION TIME FOR THIS
DEVICE COULD BE MET WITH THE EARTH LOOP IMPEADANCE LISTED IN BS 7671.
I WOULD FIT A SUBMAIN BOARD MYSLEF TO REPLACE THE COOKER
POINT AND FIT A 32 AMP RCBO TO PROTECT THE RINGMAIN DIRECTLY.
A . TO PROTECT THE RINGMAIN CABLES
B . TO ACHIEVE SUPLEMENTARY PROTECTION IN THE KITCHEN AGAINST
WATER HAZARD AND 0 . 4 DISCONNECTION TIME FOR HAND HELD
EQUIPMENT.
C . THIS IS A STANDARD CONFIGURATION ON TEST FORMS AND CAN BE RECORDED AS A SUBMAIN BOARD FROM THE MAIN CONSUMER UNIT.
. OBVIOUSLY AS SPARX CAUTIOUSLY ADVISES YOU MUST BE PART
REGISTERED TO DO SUCH WORK
