Wood Stain Removal

by metalguru » Sun Mar 29, 2009 12:29 am

I want to remove 'Cuprinol' stain from a garden shed in order that I might re-stain with another product. Can anyone recommend a paint remover which will take the 'Cuprinol' off? I've tried 'Nitromors' general purpose paint remover and it's not very effective. Thanks.

You don’t say what you intend on putting on the shed, is the shed to dark, to light, is the existing an opaque stain or transparent and why you would like to replace the existing protection. In my experience if it is water based stain then try a jet washer this will remove the water based waxy shed and fence treatments, if however it is cuprinol wood stain preservative then this will have been absorbed into the wood and you will have trouble removing this with any paint wood stain remover.
