worcester 30cdi vibrating/juddering noise when heating is of

by stuspark » Mon Aug 30, 2010 7:50 pm

I have had my worcester greenstar 30cdi boiler for just over a year now.

Lately we have been hearing a dull juddering, vibrating noise which seems to be coming from the top of the boiler although it is hard to tell as the noise only lasts for around 5 seconds at a time.

The noise happens at night mostly.

I dont know if this is related but there has been water leeking from the pipes supplying the mixer shower. It looks like its leeking from the elbow joints.

Aslo occasinally a small amout of water from the shower head emptys on to the tray.strange?

any help would be much appreciated

if the leak is sufficient, it could be enough to activate the boiler to come on briefly on dhw mode. Best thing to do is get a gas safe eng round to have a look, as it can be quite hard to say online. I'm not aware of any particular faults on the greenstar that can cause those symptoms.
I know there was a minor issue with the gas valves not being set up correctly at the factory end last year, but it wasn't anything dangerous, more a nuisance fault then anything.
