WORN ROOF SOAKERS

by jackjack » Fri Oct 16, 2009 9:08 pm

Hi all.

One of our bedrooms has leaked rainwater into the wall/ceiling area.

Our house is a 3 bed semi 1930's and has a slate roof.

A roofer preparing a quote we are waiting to receive diagnosed the problem straight away as worn out roof soakers.
The quote will be to replace the worn out soakers and replace them with new soakers (I think he said 6 soakers need replacing).

I would appreciate some advice:
Will the replacement of these soakers be costly ie thousands of pounds?

Would it be possible to replace the soakers myself and if it is possible, how would I go about doing this?

Any advice would be greatfully received.

Cheers and thanks.

Soakers are not expensive in themslves, so i would not think in the thousands.
when you receive the quote, re-post.
