I've been putting up a surface mounted light switch using a standard plastic back box. As there's nowhere to fix the earth from the switch wire presmably you just put some green/yellow sleeving on it and leave in the box?

When you do the radial circuit continuity and insulation tests doesn't this give odd results?

yes you are correct you sleeve the earth and put it an a connector block, it doesn't have any impact on test results.

hi , if there is an earth connection in the pattress ( box) then use that , if not just sleeving it is not good , so fit with connector block after sleeving ofcourse. Cheers Jeff

Hi Lawrence, about right but if room put small term block on to make sure not able to touch conn.
No prob with any testing as it's only a 'tee' off main circuit, so continuity will go through light to light, and I.R. tests won't be affected either as long as kept away from other wires as I said ,
