Advice on bathroom install and crack in shower

by absterok » Wed May 18, 2022 8:52 pm

hi, i wanted to ask some advice after my bathroom was installed.

the main thing is a small crack in shower noticed a week after install, id used shower twice.

other things are:-

panelled wall and then installed shower tray on platform, so only sealed round edge, i thought you sealed then brought the panels down to meet shower and second sealed?

flipper barely held on

mirror not attached at bottom

toilet only siliconed to floor, not secured with kit

lighting isnt IP Rated

never fitted a lock on new door

ive attached some photos, do you think im fair in complaining or persueing money back?

thank you

Hi absterok,
You certainly have grounds to complain about the split shower tray and gappy wall panels. Unfortunately contractors who carry out works to such a poor standard are reluctant to put things right. If you are going to persue your contractor you will need to get a written report - perhaps ask your local water board if they can suggest someone.

Thank you for your reply.

He did come out but basically refused to replace the tray which is the main thing.

I'm now getting quotes for fix it all, it's embarrassing, like he never even fitted a lock on the toilet door that was replaced when I ask where the Lock was he said 'what do you need a lock for?'

Hi absterok,
It depends how recently the tray was installed, if it’s within 1 year ask the installer for the makers or suppliers name and approach them - it looks like a manufacturing fault.

It was a week..

I've asked him for my copy invoice and also guarantees for items, but he's not giving me anything despite asking 3 times, twice by text and once verbally.

He refused to change it due to the work refitting a new one.

Looks like I'll have to perdue him in small claims court and pay to get it done.

I don't know the supplier as he delivered the items.

Cheers

Hi absterok,
If you can establish the shower tray makers name you may get more joy with them direct. If you are going through the small claims court do have a written condition report from a qualified person/organisation.
