Help Jigtech for Doors Stuck

by Webby03 » Mon Jun 26, 2023 1:34 pm

Hi

Hope someone can possibly give me some advice.
Had some internal doors fitted about 2yrs ago - doors have been fitted with Jigetch mechanisms.
However the latch is stuck in, i cant seem to get this to come out and stay out so thinking i need to replace the mechanism.
The only issue i have is i cant seem to remove the mechanism from inside the door (behind the handle)
With all the force in the world it wont budge more than approximately 2mm out - not enough to pull it out.
I contacted the joiner and he said "they're not supposed to come out" which i think seems a bit of a cop out.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi webby03,
Fit the latch bar, put a hammer against it on one side and hammer the other side. You should then be able to lever the latch out on the door edge but you may get some break out of the timber stile.
Presumably you won’t fit another of this type of latch so you could drill in above and below the existing latch with a 3 or 4mm drill to give you more wiggle room.
Regards S
