outside lighting

by trevor123 » Sun Mar 16, 2008 12:32 pm

hi, in my porch i have a 2 way switch, 1 controls the inside light the other controls the outside light. i would like to change the outside to 1 with a pir, is this possible with the use of the affore mentioned switched or does it need a permanent live feed to it and use the pir as a switch?

Many PIR's have their function set by switching the supply on and off so you really do need a switch.

Yes. If you run it of the existing switch it can easily be isolated to change bulbs etc, plus some security lights have a function whereby you flick the switch off then back on within a few seconds and it will light up permanently until its switched off again.
