Help please!!
Live in a house that is 4 years old. I have just tried to replace the light fiiting on the stairs. I removed the old black ceiling rose which had 5 wires (3 red, 1 black & 1 earth) going into it and then 2 wires (brown & blue) going to the light.
I noted that 2 of the red wires were fitted into the socket marked loop, the other black & red are marked live & neutral.
The light fitting I have bought is a spot light strip, which meant I had to remove the ceiling rose. The new light has 4 terminals inside marked with earth, live, neutral & loop. I have connected the household wires to the terminals and the loop into the loop terminal. The light has 2 switches 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom of the stairs.
With the light wired as described it is permently switched on?? Whether I switch the upstairs or downstairs it doesn't go off?
Come on 5 wires how hard can it be????
