Motorised CH Valve

by rgkl » Sun Dec 28, 2008 5:19 pm

The BGMVSP2 has an indicator lever with 2 positions A-B, can I assume this is an indication of open/close is this correct? if so which is which? If the indidcation is between these 2 positions does it mean the valve is jammed or is it a "no power" indication?

When the power is off, the lever will be at one end and the valve will be closed. Pressing the lever towards the opposite position should open the valve and as the lever moves across you will feel a resistance as the motorised gearing spins. When you release the lever, it should slowly return to the original rest position.

If the lever is loose and floppy, or not in a different position it is either jammed or the power is holding the valve open. You can only test the mechanics reliably with the power off.

Plumbbob - Thanks for the very useful information. I have exercised the offending valve with the power off and it appears to have recovered and is working OK tonight. So I will keep an eye on it for the time being and will look to replace in the NY. Thanks again for the good info and rapid reply

for what its worth, I had a similar problem a while back. After operating the valve manually, it worked, for a while! ended up replacing the motor and has been fine ever since.

Hi Radar, you mention about changing the electric motor, so that's possiblle then, are these normally held as spares in CH retailers, what your saying is I dont have to change the valve just the electric motor?
