As rosebery has suggested silicone is the standard sealant for this area, you don’t say what the problem with silicone is , does it come away from the wall, as silicone does not like bare plaster and can not be painted over you could always remove the bead of silicone and apply a thinned coat of PVA adhesive around the wall where it meets the work top and re-seal. Another solution is to use some solvent based liquid nails as a bead again this does not like bare plaster so pva the wall section and tape the work top up with masking tape. Use your finger and a little white spirit to smooth it into the corner. When its dry you can paint this with water based paint first and or oil over the top.
