Hi, I recently removed old plaster from walls that finished about 2inches of the floorboards. Professional plasters have come in and replastered all the way to the floor. is this ok? I am concerned as i thought it would be best to leave a gap to allow the floor to air, allow the floor boards to breath, and ensure no damp is transferred from walls to floorboards, Plus if I need to take up any floorboards I may damage the plaster. Should I be concerned or is this now best practice?

We would always as a matter of course cut the plaster at least one inch from the floor , except when tanking , for a few reasons , any damp in the boards or water spilled on the floor will track back up the plaster , 2. it stops any snots building up so to allow better fitting of skirting boards , 3 . it allows you to remove any floor boards more easily .
