I have an annoying ring main fault. We have a consumer unit with RCD's. Every so often two of the RCD's trip, the 15A and 30A. They refuse to reset until approximately 10 to 12 hours later. The unit wil then be fine for some weeks then will trip again. I have checked all the appliances connected to the circuit and can detect no fault with these. It seems the fault is with the ring main circuit itself?

IF YOU UNPLUG ALL CURRENT USING APPLIANCES AND ARE
CONVINCED THE PROBLEM IS ON THE RING MAIN WIRING ITSLEF,
YOU NEED TO GET A REGISTERED ELECTRICIAN IN TO TEST THE
CIRCUIT, PERFORMING CONTINUITY OF R1 + R2 AND THE NEUTRAL
CONDUCTOR , POLARITY CHECKS, AND INSULATION RESISTANCE
TESTS . A CONDITION CAN THEN BE ASSESSED OF THE CIRCUIT
TO SEE WHETHER IT IS FAULTY OR NOT
