i have just fitted a new shower to existing cable and plumbing, at first had no problems but, two weeks later the 30 amp fuse blew so I replaced it as it was about eleven years old so i thought problem solved, but one week later that one blew aswell, any ideas as to what ive done wrong?
HI check rating of new shower, ie each kWATT DRAWS ABT 4.2Aso if new one over7.5kW. it will melt fuse to protect circuit cable, thats its job!, regards SPARX
Hi agn Dougal, Most likely needs larger cable, isolator sw also may only be rated for 30A, 10.5 X 4.2A = 44.1 Amps so no wonder fuse melted!
If you are in England this is controlled service under part P of bldg regs so not DIY legally, regards SPARX
