With domestic fuel oil at astronomical prices, I have reviewed my annual oil consumption which, for the year Oct 09 to Oct 10, came to 3,900 litres. I can also calculate the difference between summer (aga only) and winter (aga plus heating) use. The 2-oven aga burns 40-45 litres per week, while I use about 100 liters/week when the heating is on as well.
The heating in on for 2 hours in the early morning and 6 hours in the evening.
The hot water is on the immersion
The house is 5 bed detached house - stone built with no cavity wall but with d/g and deep loft insultation (>200mm). The radiator load is about 13.6kW.
The boiler is a Camray 3, about 19 years old, model 70/90 and serviced annually, though overdue now . The burner is a Riello 40 Type 437 T55.
50-55 litres of oil per week, just for heating seems excessive... what do the experts think?
