Paint on entrance gates has run

by seaspray99 » Sun Apr 10, 2011 6:55 pm

Hi I primed two entrance gates and used Dulux Once which is an undercoat and top coat combined paint, I appreciate its rubbish, I was in a rush to try and finish the gates, anyway the paint was put on thick and its run and gone streaky and has the Orange peel effect, its a bad job, its been on 4 days and is still soft.

The question is what is the quickest way to remedy the situation ?

Many thanks for your time !

:-)

solvent based paints will remain soft for several weeks after application.

i suggest you leave it a few weeks, give it a good sand and then repaint with an undercoat and separate top coat.

Dulux once is just a name to com people in my opinion, Get a proper undercoat and gloss. But would leave it a few days sand it down and recoat properly

As a DIY product Dulux Once is fine if used correctly on prepainted surfaces where the existing paint is sound and only requires a light sanding.

It is not really the stuff to use for this application. Furthermore gloss paint will always run and streak if applied too thick.
