Radiator removal - cannot remove radiator from pipes? Help and information on all topics relating to your central heating, air conditioning and ventilation issues.

In order to decorate, I have been able to remove and replace all the radiators in the house, with the exception of the hall radiator. All the other rooms have radiators with individual thermostats on them, the hall does not. I turned it off at the valves, undid the nuts, but it just will not come away from the pipes either side. I also tried tightening one nut back up and trying to just remove one end, it still wouldn't budge.
I didn't want to try and force it in case i damaged the pipe work.

Can anyone suggest anything - hopefully this isn't too daft a question!

I would think this is due to jointing compound on the fittings having hardened over time. A little force is really the answer. I'm trying to think of a way I can advise you to tackle this, rather than what I'd do, no problem when you're used to it !
I'll suggest loosening the nuts only about one turn, then using a length of wood between the valve and the radiator as a lever. the nut still being in position should limit any movement, preventing damage.
