by gp71 » Wed Jan 13, 2010 5:11 pm

Have got a servis washer, The power is on but when you close the door the door lock light wont come on even though you cannot get the door back open until turning power off. With the door lock light not coming on a wash progrmme will not start, Any help please?

Before you call the engineer you could try googling the model number. I did that when mine stated flashing an unknown error last winter. The general consensus seemed to be that it was a loose connection and sometimes a good wallop would fix it. A few wallops with the palm of my hand later and it's been working fine for another 12 months.

Of course a good wallop could also make things worse so it pays to be careful.

Depending on the cost, the value of machine and wether it's under guarantee/insured then it can sometime be cheaper to give up before you start with washing machine servicing. 3 - 4 hours work could easily add up to £200 quid which would buy you a brand new basic machine with a one year guarantee.
