Have shower panels and need to fit a thermo shower bar

Hello guys, could really use some hands-on advice here. I've successfully fitted shower bars into bathrooms a couple of times. Now I've been given just a few days to put a shower into a room that didn't previously have one. There's not much space to play with and just to make things worse the pipes ...

Re: Damp in brickwork of chimney in two-up-two-down property?

I missed the notification of this helpful reply back in, ah, 2020. Just picked it up now after a long time off the forum. (Turns out we had bad roofers. The guy who sorted out the mess repaired the lead flashing, and bob's your uncle.) Belated thanks, Stoneyboy.

Repairing lime-based stucco, damp terrace

Hello guys, this is a very specific issue. I'm hoping someone else has dealt with the same thing. (I posted this topic on another forum, in case anyone's got deja vu.) My partner bought her terraced house in Lancs a few years ago. It's a Victorian two-up two-down in generally good nick but with some...

Patching tanking and damp problems in two-up-two-down

Hello guys, this is the second of two queries relating to damp problems in a two-up-two-down. Given the problems on the street, we had a very good plasterer tank the outside walls of the downstairs area with Kingfisher waterproofing before plastering. It has generally worked well except that there a...

Damp in brickwork of chimney in two-up-two-down property?

Hello guys, this is the first of two separate queries about the same house. My GF bought a terraced house to rent out. It's part of a street of two-up-two-downs in a damp northern city, and all of the houses have some kind of damp problem. We have two, of which the more serious is damp down the chim...

Re: Window fitting and salvaging a bad job

Hi all, especially Stoneyboy, Thank you. I think that was good advice. I'm posting this in case anyone else finds themselves in a similar position. First thing to say is: Stoneyboy is right! A proper refit is always your best bet. We couldn't do if for various reasons. The following worked OK and is...

Window fitting and salvaging a bad job

Hello guys, I've found a lot of useful info here but this is my first post. I hope I've clearly expressed a complex situation. My girlfriend has asked me to look at the installation of her sitting room window, which was done before I came on the scene. It's a bit of a mess. The wooden timber frame h...
