Re: Unusual shower waste totally blocked

I hope that you have managed to solve the problem Bellspaw... I have taken delivery of two new complete traps (but I am going to use only the clamping ring from each). It is an impressive design based upon a double volute in cross section. The waste leaves the trap IN LINE with a line drawn through ...

Re: Toilet filling up to level after fitting new fill valve

Hi,
It is probable that you have a faulty seal on the outlet (flush) valve. This will allow water to flow continuously. Depending on the type that you have you may get away with just a new seal at minimal cost...

Re: Trying to find replacement shower arm

Morning Pip, Sorry mate but my lady creates whenever I ‘waste time’ by trying to sort out how to easily post images. In any event I located several arms on Amazon and eBay that look as though they would be suitable. Unfortunately none go into the fine detail of how they mount on the the wall and cou...

Re: Unusual shower waste totally blocked

Hi Bellspaws, The make of trap that you (and I!) have is a ‘Wirquin’. I am reasonably certain that it is a 90mm dia- the size refers to the diameter of the hole in the shower tray. The dia of the chrome cap is about 120mm. They are stocked by B and Q (which says much about the quality and fitness fo...

Re: Unusual shower waste totally blocked

So: further to that, it seems that two screws are indeed correct! I’ve made an interim fix by cutting the ends from a plastic pipe clip and using them as oddly shaped washers to spread the load onto the broken bits. (The two screws are longer than first appears and they screw into the drum/barrel sh...

Re: Unusual shower waste totally blocked

Hi Bellspaws, My dragon lady moved me on from the ground floor cloakroom (loo) to my en-suite. The shower has (as previously mentioned) a waste trap identical in appearance to yours. It (and the one in her en-suite) have just two screws securing the top ring, these must pass through the flange on th...

Re: Trying to find replacement shower arm

Hi, Sorry for the delay but my lady in charge has had me go directly from one bathroom to the next! I have taken a snap of a shower arm in one of ours that uses the same arrangement. (I’ll post it up here for you when I solve some of the expensive looking problems I have found...) What I do know is ...

Re: Garden surface water problem - clay soil, London Edgware

Not being rude but you need now to research sumps and pumps. (The sump is dug at the low point and a submerged permanent pump used to transfer water to surface water drains.)

Re: Trying to find replacement shower arm

If you find a replacement shower arm you will need that projecting piece of 15mm copper pipe. Many modern arms are a push fit onto the copper with the seal being achieved by an o ring that is internal to the arm and external to the copper projection.

Re: Ideal Standard/Armitage Shanks Conceal 2 inlet valve

Problem easily and cheaply solved! Full marks to FIXTHEBOG- just yesterday I ordered a couple of seals for the inlet valve (to be sent by 2nd class post) which arrived this morning! (The spare is for next time...) In view of the fact that we live in a hard water area I would have preferred to fit a ...

Re: Unusual shower waste totally blocked

We have two wastes identical to yours. They were fitted by subcontractors to Bellway in early 2014. They have never blocked but we do take the precaution of periodically using industrial cleaning agents. Our neighbour at a previous property had a completely blocked waste from a hand wash basin that ...

Re: Leak from multikwik pan connector

Hi There, This is a bit late but I’ve only just joined the forum! The very easy way to solve this problem is to cut a short length of waste (foul) pipe and shove it into the multiquikfit in the wall and then shove your new one into that. An alternative is to fiddle on making a nice external seal wit...

Ideal Standard/Armitage Shanks Conceal 2 inlet valve

Hello All, Some forums frown upon new members immediately asking for help before introducing themselves sooo: I’m an oldish chap, normally quite competent in practical matters, who would appreciate knowledgable advice regarding a very specific little problem. Our property is nearly seven years old a...
