sludge blocking pipes

My central heating is choked up with black looking custard stopping radiators working.what is the best method of getting this stuff out? I know there are various additives some dear and some cheap but what is the best to use.

If the copper pipe comes into contact with cement the acid turns the copper to a dark colour and can over a period of years rot the pipe.The pipe should allways have some form of protection . E.G. lagging, denzo tape etc

to power flush a 7 rad system takes about 6 hrs + to do the job properly .It may be the only way to flush out stubborn build up of sludge .Power flushing cost start around £350.

I agree with htg engineer.Main are ok. if you go with a good named brand you will get after sales back up.

Yeah what you need is a pressure washer the type you would use for cleaning patios etc.they make a drain cleaning attachment which is like a 10m length of pipe which you feed down the gully and into the pipe.

Yeah i would put a 2 inch waste pipe in with as much fall as possible with a rodding point at both ends.the cover over the pipes depends on the fall of the waste pipe.I would guess 50mm cover min where there is a lot of traffic.

Yeah i have just had another idea make sure the system is full of water and the cold feed is not blocked. any auto air vents are working .check high points in system for manual air vents.
ps you will be bald after this.

yeah the feed and expansion tank check and see if the water is circulating in the tank .sometimes the water pumps over the tank via the expansion pipe and back down the cold feed. this may be caused by a sludge problem.it sounds to me that the heat is unable to dissipate from the boiler.IF you are s...

yeah have you fitted the pump the right way round ? have the primary flow and the return been correctly connected to the boiler? can the air be vented from the boiler ok. Are the pump valves fully open or partially blocked.If an old pump fit a new one.Dont pull your hair out we have all been there.

yeah what you can do if the ped allows is to run the pipes in flexible plastic pipe and connect on to the taps with flexi tap connecters same with the waste use mc alpine flexi waste. pipes run inside the pedistool.

you can put a durgo valve on the end of the pipe and end it in the loft.If your pipe is the last one on the drain run you will have to take it through the roof.

water will flow away but you will get a gluging noise from the traps and you may lose the water seal.Be careful that bath and basin water dose'nt back flow into tray.Best to increase waste pipe size to avoid probs.

leaking toilet outlet.pan design hides all connections

Fitted a new close couple toilet , when the toilet is pushed back against the wall the design of the loo hides all plumbing connnections. i have a puddle now and again showing on the floor. how do find the leak if you cant see any connections ?
